・°˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖°.

HELLO THERE!! This is my Digital learning workshop: my personal reflections !! I hope you like it!! 𖹭 🤖

・°˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖°.

During this workshop, my view of technology in education has changed in small but meaningful ways. Although I didn’t learn as much as I expected, I’ve realized how useful some tools, like artificial intelligence (or AI), can be for teaching and learning. AI stands out as a powerful tool that saves time and helps make education more accessible and effective.

One of the ideas I found most useful was the SAMR model (Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, Redefinition). This model helps teachers understand how to use technology better in their lessons. I’ve started trying it out in my English tutoring sessions. For example, instead of using paper worksheets to teach vocabulary, I used an online quiz tool like Kahoot or with memorizing games.

This change made the activity more fun and interactive for my students. They were more engaged and learned the words faster because the technology added something new to the lesson. This experience showed me how even simple tools can make a big difference in how students learn.  📓✧˖°.

The workshop was also focused on collaboration, especially digital collaboration. While it can be very helpful, I’ve noticed it isn’t always easy to make it work. For example, in group projects, I saw that students who were familiar with tools like Google Docs worked well together. However, others who didn’t know how to use these tools or weren’t motivated to participate found it harder to contribute. This taught me that for digital collaboration to succeed, students need support, motivation, and clear instructions on how to use the tools.

Another thing I’ve thought about is the ethical side of using technology in education. Teachers need to make sure that technology is used responsibly. For example, we should protect students’ privacy, avoid overusing tools like AI, and make sure that technology doesn’t replace human interaction. These are things I want to focus on in my own teaching.

Although I didn’t feel like I learned a lot in this workshop, it helped me see the importance of using technology wisely. I feel more confident trying out new tools and ideas, and I’m excited to keep exploring how they can improve my lessons.

And so, with nothing more to say, bye bye! aNDD See you soon! ໒꒰ྀིᵔ ᵕ ᵔ ꒱ྀི১

∘₊✧──────✧₊∘

HELLO THERE!! This is my Language 4 Self-assessment 2024 !!I hope you like it!! 𖹭

૮ ․ ․ ྀིა

∘₊✧──────✧₊∘

Well, when I wrote My Goals, Challenges and Expectations for Language 4, I was so close to my birthday, now I’m 20, and maybe I don’t have as many adventures as I wrote about in that blog, I have quite a few things to tell. 𓂃 ࣪˖ ִֶָ𐀔

As always I have been very responsible with my homework and assignments, but, this semester I have been sick like never before in my life (now I’m sick….), which has made me miss a lot of classes, so my only fault this semester, has been my attendance problems… 𖦹 ´ ᯅ ` 𖦹

Talking about the things I mentioned in my previous blog, I consider that I have not been able to learn so much in “Digital learning” but I feel that it has been partly because we have not had so many classes, although, we had a very interesting talk with Jessie, which Mr. James made us summarize, which you can see in this blog, and in this other one, in case you are interested in knowing more or less what we did during those two sessions!! ପ(๑•ᴗ•๑)ଓ ♡

ANDD RADICALLY changing the subject, this semester together with the Student Council we did the “English Week” which was a lot of fun! both to organize and to be part of, I had an incredible time together with my friends and the council, really if you are not part of the Student Council and for some reason you find yourself reading, or listening, this, I really hope with all my heart that you enjoyed it, HERE ARE SOME PICTURES! (˶ˆᗜˆ˵)

And now, I’m going to answer Issi from the past! These questions are from my self assesment 3!!!!

  • How is your life going? How are your friendships going?

Excellent! the truth is, things have happened that you wouldn’t imagine in many ways, but, I know that everything is going to get better, I am currently very happy and calm, with many more hobbies haha 𖹭

  • What have you learned in general? What interesting topics can you tell me about?

I have learned a lot of things, this semester Use of English really got difficult, the use of the passive voice at first seemed easy, but don’t let that fool you! haha, in phonetics, the different intonations are what has left me more marked, in writing we are learning to write argumentative paragraphs, so yes, it’s getting a little difficult in general omgg

  • Everything is going better? How many times have you stayed late at the university? This semester we were there a lot!

I feel like this semester I’ve done a lot of things, but with a very well-organized time, so I haven’t had to stay late so many times. ദ്ദി๑>؂•̀๑)

And, well, another couple of questions for the self assessment 5!!! (((if there is one))))

  • How are things going? How is life going? (˶ˆᗜˆ˵)
  • Any practical experience you want to talk about? I am very nervous about it… . ̫.
  • What are you involved in this semester? 𖹭 Do you like the way the career is going? Are you feeling discouraged?

And so, with nothing more to say, bye bye! aNDD See you soon! ໒꒰ྀིᵔ ᵕ ᵔ ꒱ྀི১

I’m still motivated to continue! ଘ(੭’꒳`)°* ੈ‧₊˚

🤖⋆.ೃ࿔*:・Applying the TPACK model

FILM REVIEW ACTIVITY (Recently done in class):

Students will describe in English their favorite film and recommend it in a maximum time of 2 minutes.

Content Knowledge (CK)

Students will learn how to write a film review in English, focusing on vocabulary related to films (e.g., plot, characters, soundtrack), and the structure of a review (Summary, opinion, and recommendation).

Pedagogical Knowledge (PK)

Using examples of film reviews, as a teacher, I will explain the structure (intro, body, conclusion) and model how to analyze and describe the key elements of a film.

Technological Knowledge (TK)

Students will type their film reviews in Google Docs and use Grammarly to ensure they write with correct grammar and spelling. They can also collaborate with a partner by sharing their document for peer editing and feedback.

Technological Content Knowledge (TCK)

Students will research film reviews using online sources like Rotten Tomatoes and watch a few YouTube video reviews. This exposure will allow them to compare professional reviews and notice differences in style, tone, and focus, enhancing their own writing.

Technological Pedagogical Knowledge (TPK)

Students will create a presentation using Prezi or Canva about the film review incorporating images from the movie and even short video clips from trailers to support their opinions. The focus here is for students to go beyond the written text and present their review to the class.

Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK)

Everything integrates effectively!!!

Students use all the knowledge they have gained (content, pedagogy, and technology) to create and share their final product. Students will record and upload a film review video using the recently done presentation to YouTube, where they will summarize and recommend their favorite movie. Afterward, their peers can watch and leave feedback or ask questions.

⋆𐙚₊˚⊹♡ TPACK and SAMR game creation

In this game, you need one dice, and four players or four teams. They will need to answer correctly in order to move forward and reach the finish line, you can see the answers in one quizzlet link.

It’s based on Snakes and Ladders!!

Here is the link so you can view it in better quality or play!!(˶˃ ᵕ ˂˶) .ᐟ.ᐟ

“Film Reviews” using the SAMR model ꒰ᐢ. .ᐢ꒱₊˚⊹

FILM REVIEW ACTIVITY (Recently done in class):

Students will describe in English their favorite film and recommend it in a maximum time of 2 minutes.

Substitution

Students will write the movie review in Microsoft Word or Google Docs. Instead of writing it by hand, they will use a technology tool to write it.

Augmentation

After writing the review in Google Docs, students will use a proofreading tool such as Grammarly or Google Docs suggestions to check grammar and vocabulary. They can also use another tool of dictionary and spell checker.

Modification

Students will use Prezi or Canva to create an interactive presentation of their review, adding images from the film and, short video clips from the trailer. The presentation will allow them to better organize their ideas and add visual elements.

Redefinition

Students will record a 2-minute video using the previously created presentation and review in which they recommend their favorite movie. Then, they will post the video on YouTube, and their classmates will be able to leave comments or questions about the review, creating a conversation around the recommended movies.

✩°。 ⋆⸜🤖 International Faculty second session

The session focused on discussing the appropriate use of AI tools in academic work, emphasizing that AI can be a valuable resource when used responsibly. The message was to guide us on when and how to effectively use AI-generated answers. It was presented as a decision-making tool in the form of a diagram showing when the use of AI is beneficial and when it can be counterproductive. For example, students may use AI to start an assignment, clarify ideas, or improve their work, but should avoid relying on AI to fully complete assignments or conduct research independently due to the risk of misinformation.

Also within the session, we did an activity in which we had to integrate AI and digital tools to an activity that we had previously done in class or at some point in our lives. Our group, formed by Derik, Barbara, and Alexandra, used a writing activity that consisted of writing a 200-250 word paragraph on how fashion trends contribute to pollution, and why this is dangerous for the environment. We used tools such as chatGPT, YouTube, Google Docs, Thesaurus.com, Grammarly, and Gemini to do it. We had to present this activity to Jesse, which made her a bit nervous, but nothing terrible!

The talk also highlighted critical issues related to AI, such as its potential for “hallucination,” which can generate incorrect or fabricated information. The risk of bias was also introduced, as AI models are trained with large amounts of Internet data that are not always accurate or balanced.

Reflecting on this session, I learned how powerful AI tools such as ChatGPT or Magic Shool can be when used correctly in an academic context, although I was also reminded of their limitations. The concept of AI “hallucinations” was a topic that especially caught my attention, as it showed me that I cannot blindly trust AI-generated content without verifying it. I also realized that while AI can simplify complex topics and help generate ideas, it cannot replace the critical thinking and personal effort required to learn and complete tasks effectively.

One of the main conclusions I took away from this session was the importance of understanding the limits of AI capabilities. Improper use of AI can lead to plagiarism, misinterpretation, and even misunderstanding of the subject matter, and also that many times they can suffer from these “hallucinations” that make AI may not be so reliable. Finally, the session stressed the importance of recognizing the ethical implications of AI in education, emphasizing that, at its best, AI is a tool to support learning, not replace it.
